Abdul Karim Commemoration Volume

The research and publications of Professor Abdul Karim have been of such benefit to so many scholars and readers of the history of Bengal, especially for the long period of Muslim rule, that I feel honoured to be able to pay my tribute to his memory him. From my own perspective, that of an historian of religion,
it would seem that a further tribute to this doyen of Bangladeshi historians of Bengal would be the preparation of an inclusive history of religion in the Bengal region-corresponding roughly to present-day Bangladesh and West Bengal-from the earliest times knowable down to the present. It would not be a simple task. To do it optimally would require the collaboration of a number of scholars expert in various disciplines, periods, religious traditions and aspects of religious life in the Bengal region spanning more than two thousand years of recorded history.
